The Ancient Pharoahs mummified their bodies because they believed that they would be resurrected if their bodies survived till the next age. They kept all their treasures in their burial tombs (pyramids) so that they would have treasures in the after-life. Today, whatever tomb raiders have not looted through the years is sitting in a museum somewhere...
